Micah

Micah has been living in Bend since 2005. He graduated from Mountain View High School. Although Micah started playing the clarinet in the sixth grade, he never knew about or heard the music of Dixieland until he was under the tutelage of the band’s founding clarinetist, Ted Burton (Matthew’s Dad). With Burton’s words of wisdom and knowledge, Micah has blazed his own trail by playing with many groups like the Central Oregon Youth Orchestra, US Army Field Jazz Ambassadors, the University of Oregon Marching Band, and the University of Oregon Wind Ensemble. He also performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City when he was 15. Micah has been with the Summit Express Jazz Band since 2019. Currently, he plays for Trinity Lutheran for their Christmas/Easter performances and their pit for their high school musical productions. He also teaches a private student!

When Micah is not playing music, he works for Rick Havern’s cabinetry shop. He loves to volunteer and help Trinity Lutheran’s middle school beginning band program, and can be found spending the rest of his time with his wife!
